Together with the attendance of Prof. Dr. Wangzhen, there were Prof. Shen Yuliang and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Peng Yu, Institute of World Economic Studies; Dr. Wang Genxiang, Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services; Mr. Lu Junrong, Director of Research Department, The China Centre for International Economic Exchanges; Dr. Liu Aming, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department.
In the meeting, on behalf of leaders of VASS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Duc greeted Prof. Dr. Wangzhen and the delegation in their business trip to VASS. At the same time, the Vice President briefly introduced to the delegation missions, organizational structure and basic functions of VASS, and recent international cooperation activities (with China). Prof. Dr. Pham Van Duc affirmed that economics is the focus of research for many specialized research institutes under VASS as well as the review of economic events and seminars that VASS had implemented in recent years.
Thereby, the Vice President of VASS, Prof. Dr Pham Van Duc emphasized that both sides needed to promote scientific cooperation activities through more academic exchanges (holding alternate discussion on economic issues); attend seminars between SASS and VASS in Shanghai, China in October 2017 and deploy scientific cooperation plans to discuss issues of mutual interests in the coming time.
In response to the Vice President of VASS, Prof. Dr. Wangzhen thanked VASS for the warm welcome and briefly introduced the structure, functions and duties of the SASS and affirmed that the focus of its research was on international issues (International Trade), and especially, in recent times, SASS had focused on Southeast Asia
Discussing the plan to hold the scientific conference in this October, the Vice President of SASS, Prof. Dr. Wangzhen agreed with VASS’ suggestions and welcomed the delegation of VASS to attend. By doing so, SASS would devote all of its enthusiasm in the preparation process, mobilizing the participation of experts, leading scientists in studies about Southeast Asia for high quality seminar.
At the end of the meeting, the Vice President of VASS, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Duc hoped for a better and better relationship, and affirmed that the seminar in October would be a good start for a long-term collaboration between VASS and SASS in years to come.
After the meeting, the delegation of SASS and VASS held the scientific seminar titled “Trade Relations between China and Southeast Asian countries.”
