President Nguyen Quang Thuan welcomed Indian Ambassador to Vietnam – Mr. Pranay Verma


In the morning of August 16th 2019, at Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) welcomed and worked with Indian Ambassador to Vietnam – Mr. Pranay Verma.

Accompanying with the Ambassador was Mr. Rajesh Uike, Deputy Ambassador and Ms. Hoang Mai Nhung (Interpreter). On VASS side, there were MSc. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Head, International Cooperation Department, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Trung, Director of Institute of Indian and Southwest Asian Studies; Dr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Director of Institute of China Studies.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan warmly welcomed and congratulated Mr. Pranay Verma on the occasion of the newly appointed Ambassador in Vietnam. Through collaborative exchanges that have been developed between VASS and partners in India such as the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA); Indian Council for Social Sciences Research (ICSSR); Shiv Nadar University ... Professor President of VASS expressed his wish to receive the support of the Ambassador, especially in the fields of research and training to develop high quality human resources.

In response to the President of VASS, Mr. Pranay Verma expressed his thanks for the solemn welcome from the President for the delegation and said that with the tradition of good relations between India and Vietnam in general, between research institutes of India and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam with VASS in particular, Ambassador Pranay Verma himself is very interested in researches on social sciences as well as training to improve the quality of human resources. These are considered as two key areas, directly contributing to the socio-economic development between two sides.

In the context that Vietnam-India relations are developing more and more widely, the Ambassador hoped that the two sides will continue to have more cooperation activities, not only at the central agencies in the Indian capital New Delhi or Hanoi of Vietnam, but the two sides need to continue expanding cooperation relations to other provinces and cities of the two countries. Thereby, there would be more initiatives, specifically contributing to the development of strategic partnerships of both India and Vietnam.

In response to the suggestions of Ambassador Pranay Verma, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan also strongly supported the development views which the Ambassador made. At the same time, raising opinion on cooperation plans, especially in the field of training and application of technical solutions on IT - This is considered to be one of the most successful areas, bring the largest economic proportion to India.

The meeting ended successfully, through specific discussions on cooperation contents, the two sides showed the cooperation and support of the Indian Embassy in Vietnam, as well as the readiness for the cooperation between VASS and India's research institutions will directly boost the bilateral relations to a new height and depth and efficiency in the coming time.
