President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences visited and had presentation in India

By the invitation of Research and Information System for Developing Countries, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, a member of Central Committee, President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, had a visit and presentation in the ASEAN – Indian Eminent Person Lecture Series in India from August 11th to 14th 2014.

In New Delhi, Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang has had his presentation on “Political Situation and New Economic Order in Asia”. In Kolkata, Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang visited Hochiminh Statue with flower, visited the India – Vietnam Solidarity Committee in West Bengalthen have his presentation on “Recent Policy Actions of East Asian Countries and Regional Security Environment”.

The lecture of Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang attracted the attention of many politicians, researchers, scholars, press and media of India. In New Delhi, Ambassador of Laos, Cambodia and representatives of some South East Asian countries, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Tan as well as all staff of Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in India have joined and listened to Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang’s lecture.

Discussing about political situation and world economy, Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang has analyzed about power structure in next decade. For him, this structure will be maintained as the same way which is multi - level but the economy system is having significant changes with the rising of China and India. These countries will play a bigger role in the international relations through their economic power. Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang also stressed on the impacts of policy adjustments and competition from big countries as China, America and Japan, on regional security environment. Especially, it is the recent actions of China increased the stress in East Sea area.

Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang evaluated that India is showing its expectation to expand the relations with countries in Asia – Pacific region through its policy on East Sea. In next decade, India is possible to become one of big four economies in the world, only stay behind America, China and Japan. India has its independent voice in international market and will play a more important role in South East Asian security, especially maritime security. India will be still an important factor in defining the power order in Asia Pacific region. The relationship between Vietnam and India will be keep developing in depth and two countries will expand the relations through more potential fields as commerce, investment, education and focus on some key industries as agriculture, medicine and information technology./.
