International seminar on: “Japan’s security policy in Asia-Pacific and the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan”

On December 19th 2014, at the head office No. 1 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) and the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam co-organized international seminar on “Japan’s security policy in Asia-Pacific and the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan” for exchange of information and raising understanding of strategic partnership. The seminar attracted participation of scientists of specific research institutes of VASS and many diplomatists, researchers of Embassy of Japan in Vietnam. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of VASS and Mr. Fukada Hiroshi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, co-chaired the Seminar.

At the seminar, representatives listened to Mr. Fukada Hiroshi presenting a speech of “Japan’s security policy in Asia-Pacific and the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan”, that focused on discussion of some following major contents:

- Japan’s issues of security policy and positive peace: analysis, explanation of changes in security environment last time and response of Japan; and Japan-US alliance relations.

Issues of maritime security and Vietnam-Japan cooperation: statement of jurisdiction principles proposed by Japan; methods needed to be implemented in which that emphasizes enhancement of economic strengths of Vietnam.

Japan’s expectation to Vietnam, that expresses in economy, such as enhancement of Vietnam’s economic strengths via auxiliary industrial development; Potentiality of agriculture and Vietnam-Japan cooperation in this area.

The seminar completed successfully, attracted concern and ebullient discussion of representatives./.
