The Social Science Library is a
general and multi-disciplinary library with diversified and profound
information about the social sciences and humanities. The Library is currently
keeping very profound, valuable, and rare materials on the Orient and is
considered the largest resource in Southeast Asia with nearly 400,000 books,
over 900 journals and newspapers in Vietnamese and foreign languages that are
regularly supplemented. The Library's book collection dates back to 1957 with
over 100,000 books in Chinese, Japanese, English, and French, ranging on
subjects including the economy, culture and society of far eastern countries in
the early 19th century. Many of these have been digitized for long-term usage.
Linked to the General Library is a
system of specialized libraries which operates within member institutes under
VASS. They contain numerous books, articles and other publications under the
mission to support the academic fields of instruction, research, and service,
for researchers, faculty and students. The libraries have contributed to the
common good by collecting, organizing, preserving, communicating, and sharing
the recorded knowledge of the social sciences with the public.
