President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences received a meeting with Mr. Akbar Nazari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vietnam.

On the afternoon of February 25th, 2021, at the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, AssocProf. Dr. Bui Nhat Quang, President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) had a meeting with Mr. Akbar Nazari, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vietnam.

Accompanying the Ambassador were: Mr. Seyed Mahdi Borghei, Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vietnam. Receiving the delegation with the President of VASS were MSc. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Head of International Cooperation Department; Assoc Prof.Dr. Le Phuoc Minh, Director of the Institute of African and Middle East Studies and MSc. Opening the meeting, on behalf of VASS's Leaders, AssocProf. Dr.  Bui Nhat Quang warmly welcomed Ambassador Akbar Nazari at the first time to visit and have a working session at VASS; at the same time, briefly introduced the structure, functions, and main research tasks that VASS was undertaking in social and humanities research, policy advice and human resource improvement. Accordingly, VASS has played an important role in building the platform and documents of the XIII Party Congress. With the ongoing cooperation exchanges between VASS and Iranian partners, the President of VASS wished to continue to consolidate the signed activities. (MOU signed with the Embassy of Iran in the year 2014), simultaneously, the Chairman also hoped to receive the support of the Ambassador in the field of culture (by exhibiting the unique cultural features of Iran at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology); increase the exchange of scholars between the two countries, focusing on research in economic, political, educational and social fields...

In receiving the speech of VASS President, Ambassador Akbar Nazari expressed his sincere thanks for the VASS's warm welcome as the leading research institute in Vietnam. The Ambassador highly appreciated the VASS's important position and role in planning Vietnam's development policies and pathways. Thereby, the Ambassador also expected that the two sides would further promote academic exchanges, organize online seminars to exchange research experiences on social sciences, economics, culture, and education to enhance understanding each other, contribute to promoting Vietnam - Iran cooperation. In addition, he also said that Vietnam was taking on the position of ASEAN Chairman and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council were favorable conditions for the two countries to promote cooperation on bilateral and multilateral forums.

Responding to the suggestions of Ambassador Akbar Nazari, AssocProf. Dr. Bui Nhat Quang warmly supported and expressed the VASS's willingness to cooperate, in which the Institute of African and Middle East Studies was one of the key units in Vietnam doing in-depth research on Iran and Africa, Middle East regions; The Institute for African and Middle East Studies would be the focal point in the cooperation with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Vietnam.

The meeting ended successfully, promising concrete, practical and effective cooperation activities to contribute to further promoting the good friendship between Vietnam and Iran in the coming time.
