At present, EU is a region with the most dynamic development knowledge economy in the world by achieving the more sustainable growth and greater social connection. The model of State welfare economy in EU countries with a view to emphasizing the distribution of economic benefit in a most sufficient manner for all people has been highly appreciated by the world. The research on the social security system of EU countries is necessary to refer to, learn experience from building the social security model of a group of EU countries with high development level in the world, thereby withdrawing lessons for the planning of social security system of Vietnam in the coming time. Therefore, in December 2008, the Social Science Publishing House and the Institute for European Studies launched the book entitled “Social security system of EU and experience lesson for Vietnam”. The book includes 3 chapters. Chapter 1: Overview on the social security system of EU; Chapter 2: Social security system of some typical nations; Chapter 3: Success, limit, trend of reforming social security system of EU and experience lesson for Vietnam.
