Attending the agreement signing ceremony, in the IRSD side, there were Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Tuan, Director of IRSD and the two Deputy Directors including Dr. Le Anh Vu and Dr. Nguyen Dinh Chuc along with leaders of specialized and business departments and civil servants of IRSD. In the ISPR side, the delegation included Prof. Sergei Vassilevich Ryantzev, Head of the Center for Social Demography and several researchers of the ISPR.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Tuan and Prof. Sergei Vassilevich Ryantzev affirmed that the signing of the cooperation agreement on scientific exchanges between the two parties aimed to open new opportunities for the two institutes to collaborate and promote bilateral and multilateral exchanges, which was the milestone in the process of cooperation, joint research and training between the two institutes.
The two parties agreed to sign a cooperation agreement on scientific exchanges in the following contents:
1) The two parties would conduct joint research activities on issues related to population geography, demography and migration.
2) The two institutes would disseminate scientific research results including publishing research reports, conduct joint research and training activities (conferences, seminars, roundtable workshops, teaching).
3) Both institutes would apply research results into teaching and training through Master and PhD programs.
4) The two parties would integrate research results into policies on population, migration, and regional sustainable development in both Vietnam and Russia Federation.
5) The two institutes would prepare joint research projects and tenders for funds and donor agencies for sciences.
According to the agreement, the two parties would focus on the following topics for joint research:
1. Construction of monitoring system for migration processes and fluctuations in climate change conditions (eg.in coastal regions in Russia Federation and Vietnam) to participate in bidding for projects of the fund for basic scientific research of VASS and Russia in the period of 2017-2020.
2. The issues related to migration in mountainous and disadvantageous areas in Vietnam and Russia Federation: research about socio-economic and demographic issues and migration policies.
3. Climate change and migration in Vietnam and Russia Federation.
4. Migration policies aiming at sustainable development, social problems due to urbanization related to migration; problems related to the development of urban transport infrastructure.
5. Issues of inter-regional coordination of environmental protection and human resources development.
The cooperation agreement between the two institutes was the result of the process of understanding, identifying common concerns and the possibility of collaboration between the two parties. The collaborative contents and framework were in line with research priorities of both institutes as well as the capacity to deploy in the future which would take effect for 5 years from the date of signing.
Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Tuan, Director of IRSD and Prof. Sergei Vassilevich Ryantzev, Head of the Center for Social Demography of the ISPR signed the cooperation agreement on scientific exchanges and cooperation in the presence of the delegates. The signing ceremony on cooperation agreement was successful as a testament to the passionate relationship between the two institutes./.
