The seminar introduces Sumitomo Fund, Japan in 2019

On 10/06/2019, the International Cooperation Department - Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (Academy) held a seminar Introducing Sumitomo Fund - Japan in 2019.

Attending the seminar was Dr. Pham Thi Thu Phuong - Expert of the International Cooperation Department, officials from the International Cooperation Department and nearly 20 young researchers from the affiliated units of the Academy are interested in the content of the seminar.

Following the success of the previous year, this year's seminar was conducted with the aim of improving mutual understanding between Asian and Japanese countries through promoting research projects in the field of social science or Humanities are related to Japan; Enhance the sharing of experience for grants from Sumitomo Foundation and related grants in general.

Sumitomo Foundation (The Sumitomo Foundation) is a nonprofit support organization founded on September 25, 1991 by 20 Sumitomo companies on the 300th anniversary of Besshi Copper Mine in Shikoku, Japan. The Foundation's goal is to contribute to improving human society by calling for community support. Currently, the Fund's grants are devoted to research projects in all fields including social sciences and humanities related to Japan conducted in English or Japanese. The amount of funding for each project is 0.1 to 1.5 million Yen, the highest is about 2 million Yen. In recent years, Sumitomo Foundation has funded over 80 projects from Asian countries with a total budget of about 50 million Yen.

In the seminar, representatives of Sumitomo Fund - Mr. Kenichi Hamaya introduced specific procedures, steps to apply for funding from this valuable research fund. At the same time, he also shared a lot of interesting information about the implementation situation of the Fund in Vietnam and Asia and answered many questions from the participants. This year's registration period for funding from the Fund is from September 1 to October 31, 2019.
