Indeed, this is the very forum for both local and international participants to make discussion and give comments on the role of cultural heritages in peace development and education, to recognize and affirm values and roles of cultural heritages in daily life, and to identify the role of education in improving awareness of those in different sectors and circles so that planning and development program management can be carried out in a peaceful environment and for the sake of peace. The conference focuses on some themes as below: Identification of cultural heritage from practice; Role of cultural heritages in “conflicts” and “natural calamities” as the goal of the conflicts and the resource for peace-building; Methods/measures to enhance awareness of cultural heritage values among local communities; Cultural heritage as a part of the unity; the homogeneousness and the unity in cultural diversification etc...

International participants at Cultural Temple of Tran Bien (Dong Nai) during the fieldwork tour |
Apart from indoor activities that took place for 2 days inside the Conference Hall, participants also took part in some additional outdoor activities, such as: to visit Dong Nai Museum; and to pay a fieldwork tour to the Cultural Temple of Tran Bien, Cat Tien National Park and Cat Tien Archaeological Vestige (Lam Dong Province). Those outdoor activities aim at strengthening cultural exchange as well as promoting research experience and information sharing among international and local participants.
The conference is a bridge connecting consciousness and action among researchers – leaders/management officials – mass media. It was held on the occasion that Vietnam became a member in the World Committee of Cultural Heritage during the 37th Meeting of the Great Committee of UNESCO held in Paris (France) on the 19th of November 2013. At the same time, the conference viewed as one of the series of activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (2 December 1953 – 2 December 2013).
