Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of VASS and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tien, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province signed the cooperation agreement.
Attending the signing ceremony, on the VASS side there were Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, President of VASS; Prof.Dr. Do Hoai Nam, Former Member of the Party Central Committee, Former President of VASS, Chairman of the Council of the Graduate Academy of Social Sciences, VASS; Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Deputy President of VASS; and representatives from the Scientific Management Department, the Personnel Department, and managers, scholars and experts from a number of research institutes of VASS.
On the side of Lam Dong province, there were Mr. Huynh Duc Hoa, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Lam Dong province; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tien, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province; and representatives from the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People’s Committee and departments of Lam Dong province.
The major activities of the cooperation program between VASS and the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province in 2013-2018 included:
1. To review the socio-economic development and the implementation of the policies by the Party on industrialization and modernization in order to propose a development model in accordance with the local characteristics; to provide a scientific basis for the guidelines and policy making, the planning and plans for socio-economic development of Lam Dong province;
2. To undertake a number of specific projects, surveys and assessments in order to suggest solutions for the preservation and promotion of the cultural and historical values as well as local traditions to serve the industrialization and modernization; to coordinate in carrying out fundamental surveys and building databases of socio-economic conditions and environmental resources for the planning and forming the sustainable development plans of the province;
3. To coordinate in building and undertaking some projects concretized from the development plan and specific mechanisms of Lam Dong province; to organize a number of thematic discussions on the integration and sustainable development.
4. To organize training courses and short-term training to enhance the capacity of local staff.
