To commemorate the 20th anniversary of its foundation, the Institute of European Studies held the international workshop on “European studies in Vietnam: the 20-year journey and prospects” on 8 November 2013.

In response to the year 2013 of the Vietnamese families, Insitute for Family and Gender Studies received the approval of the leadership of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) to hold the international conference on “Vietnamese families in the process of industrialization, modernization and integration from the comparative approach” on 7-8 November 2013 in Hanoi.

The international conference on “Sustainable development through green growth in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam” was organized on 29 October 2013 by Lao Academy of Social Sciences (LASS), Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC), and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) in the collaboration with Korea Environment Institute (KEI) and Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in Thakhek district, Kham Muon province, Laos.

The second annual international conference on “The role of social sciences in sustainable development in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam” was held on 28 October 2013 in Thakhek district, Kham Muon province, Laos by Lao Academy of Social Sciences (LASS). This international conference was to be held annually and alternatively by three academies in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

The workshop on “Theoretical and practical backgrounds for the model of social development and the management of social development” was held at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (under Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) on 3 October 2013. This was one among the academic activities of the project “Social development and the management of social development in the Southeast Asian countries – the lesson for Vietnam to involve in building the ASEAN Community” led by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Duy Dung, which was a component of the State-level research program no. KX.02/11-15 named “Research on social development and the management of social development in Vietnam until 2020” with Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Duc Cuong as the program manager.
