Giving the opening speech, Professor, Doctor Le Hong Ly, Director of the Institute of Cultural Studies stated that after being held 12 times, the Conference became a scientific forum for cultural researchers, collectors, lecturers and managers in Vietnam. The Conference aims at establishing an annual forum where cultural researchers have opportunities to meet and exchange their outcomes; publish and introduce their latest results; discuss controversial cultural issues, etc. A number of early career researchers have thriven through their symposia papers; many ideas originated from cultural news have been developed into high-quality research projects; and a great many conference discussions have provided researchers with new approaches to culture. There was a variety of optimistic signs in the research of culture pointed out at the conference. In particular, the scope of cultural research has been increasingly extended; values of folk culture, which persist in the modern society, have still been treasured; the relationship between preservation and promotion of folk culture’s values in the evolution of culture reflected in different aspects of social life; cultural preservation in the context of global integration; contribution of culture to the development of tourism, the maintenance of peace and international cultural exchanges; etc.
More than 100 symposia papers, many of which was produced by young researchers, have shown that cultural research has been increasingly respected and advanced, new approaches to culture have revealed various latest issues of the contemporary society.
Through conference presentations, a wide range of contemporary topics such as urbanization, migration, spirituals phenomena, belief, etc has been fervently discussed in the conference and raised many opposite opinions, through which making a major contribution to the success of this Conference.
