Having opening speech at the workshop, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan and Associate Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Tuan both stated that the integration of sciences and technology is an important element and a certain trend of the world economic. In recent years, the international collaboration between Vietnam and SNG partners (including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan) on sciences and technology saw a dramatic increase. The collaboration model, however, is simple and has not made significant changes or breakthroughs for the growth of Vietnam’s technology and sciences. The model has also not yet explored the strengths and potential abilities of both sides, and not created the linkage between sciences and technology with economic integration. Hence, finding out the new model, which is suitable for the integration practice, will improve the efficiency of the collaboration and turn sciences and technology into the element ensuring the sustainability of the economic integration.

Reports showed that the economic integration of Vietnam with Eurasian Economic Union would be able to explore the prospect for such activities as scientific and technological collaboration, innovation between Vietnam and member states following the market and manufacturing orientation based on the technology transform, and the project of implementing researches which were tested in member states, as well as the commercialization of research results… This is the major target in the international collaboration policy on sciences and technology of each country. So Russian and Kazakhstan scientists will stress on the creation of a mutual environment for sciences and technology in the scope of Eurasian Economic Union and this will bring to more opportunities and recommendations for improving the collaboration with Vietnam.
The workshop is an useful forum for local and foreign scientists to exchange, discuss and provide suggestions about the new collaboration model.
