General Vo Nguyen Giap- An outstanding military talent, the Big Brother of the Vietnam People's Army

Celebrating 110 years of General Vo Nguyen Giap's birthday (August 25, 1911, August 25, 2021), following the direction of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, on the morning of August 25, 2021, the Ministry of National Defense coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department, the Government Office and the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee to organize a national scientific conference: "General, Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap - An outstanding military talent, charismatic leader great credit of the Vietnamese revolution". The seminar took place in the form of online at many bridge points. President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent flowers to congratulate the Conference.

Attending were General, Dr. Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense, Head of the Conference Steering Committee; General Luong Cuong, Politburo member, Standing member of the Central Military Commission, Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; members of the Party Central Committee: Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee Vu Dai Thang. Also attending were former leaders of the Party, State, Government, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense; representatives of leaders of central agencies, departments, organizations and representatives of General Vo Nguyen Giap's family.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia gave an overview of General Vo Nguyen Giap's life and revolutionary career. The life of more than 80 years of revolutionary activities of General Vo Nguyen Giap is associated with important historical milestones, marking the development of the Vietnamese revolution.
From a student, journalist, teacher, revolutionary activist, He became an outstanding general; an ingenious, creative strategist; a General Commander in martial arts; a leading organizer of the Vietnamese revolution in the Ho Chi Minh era. Along with great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the country, General Vo Nguyen Giap is an exemplary model of morality and personality of a communist soldier, devoting himself to the country and the people.
General Phan Van Giang affirmed General Vo Nguyen Giap's lifelong spirit of struggle and sacrifice, and emphasized that in the course of revolutionary activities, General Vo Nguyen Giap was supported by the Party, State and Army, entrusted with many key leadership positions.
Experiencing many positions, operating in many different positions, regardless of location, performing any task, General Vo Nguyen Giap has always been one of the typical leaders of the Vietnamese revolution, a talented military man, outstanding, having great merits for the process of building, fighting and growing up, the glorious victory of the Vietnam People's Army; The General's name has been associated with the glorious victories of the Army and the Vietnamese people in the Ho Chi Minh era, contributing to changing the historical flow of the country and the world.
As an exemplary model of revolutionary morality, with a high intellectual height and spirit of wholeheartedly, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland and the people, General Vo Nguyen Giap was loved and admired by the whole army and people, venerated as "Elder brother of the army", "General of the people", "Commander of Commanders", "Commissar of Political Commissars", "General of Generals", internationally appreciated "The general of the national liberation movement".
Tasked by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh to "organize, train and lead the army", General Vo Nguyen Giap built an army from 34 soldiers, rudimentary equipment to advance into a revolutionary army, growing stronger and more mature, becoming the core for the entire people to fight the enemy, from the armies of "unfamiliar with guns, military with ten cards" to build up into main groups, forming "the fist" strong" to gain and promote the right to take the initiative, master the battlefield, defeat all war plans of the French colonialists supported by the US imperialists to come to a successful end of the resistance war against the French colonialists. Then it developed into a regular army, consisting of many troops, armed forces, modern equipment with powerful divisions and corps, which in turn defeated the highest strategies and military efforts of the Vietnamese army. American imperialists and their henchmen, to go to the General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1975, successfully ending 30 years of revolutionary war, regaining full independence for the nation, and reunifying the country.
With the role of the person who directly commanded the armed forces in the two resistance wars, General and Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap proved to be a talented general. During that process, the General focused on the overall analysis but also focused on analyzing the important factors to find the best solution, the best way to fight, step by step transforming forces, posture, and win, take advantage step by step, move forward to win decisive victory.
The great victories of the Vietnamese revolution to which General and Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap contributed, changed the course of the nation's history, strongly influenced world history, and brought him back to life. He became a famous general of all time, left a brilliant mark in military history, contributed to enriching Vietnam's military art, formed the Vietnamese military doctrine of the Ho Chi Minh era, and left a valuable legacy, profoundly for the construction of the all-people national defense, firmly defending the Socialist Vietnamese Fatherland. This is also a content that many discussions focused on in-depth analysis and clarification at the conference.

Not only is General Vo Nguyen Giap a talented Commander-in-Chief, directly directing our army and people to defeat the French colonialists and American imperialists, General Vo Nguyen Giap is also a prestigious leader of the Party, making important contributions to the national construction and development.
During the period of holding the position of Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers (1981 - 1991), the General made an important contribution to determining the direction of implementing the scientific - technical revolution in a correct and appropriate manner, with a combination of sequential steps and leaps of development, with focus and focus, ensuring timely and effective service for the construction and defense of the Fatherland; focusing on key stages, creating positive changes to solve the problems of the education sector in the country and the revolutionary tasks required; had many important and valuable ideas for the Party and State in formulating guidelines and policies for socio-economic development, contributing to national construction and development.
 
Following President Ho Chi Minh's advice, the General took "Tri, Dung, Nhan, Tin, Liem, Trung" as a training goal, devoted to the people and the country; taking "Di Cong Vi Thuong" as the first, ... strive to self-study, practice, strive, draw experience, summarize reality, combine theory with practice to find methods and forms of struggle, scientific and appropriate warfare in order to maximize the strength of the human factor, achieve the greatest victory, but minimize the loss of human and material resources of the revolution and of cadres, soldiers, clearly demonstrated the General's sense of responsibility to the Fatherland and the people.
The bold and wise decisions of General, Commander-in-Chief Vo Nguyen Giap contributed to making history, but the General never thought for himself. For the General, that merit belongs to the people, to the cadres and soldiers under his command who rushed to fire, ready to fight and die for the independence and freedom of the nation. Therefore, when deciding to open a campaign, a battle, along with wise military calculations, the General always thinks of the soldier, tries to the highest level, to minimize the loss, sacrifice. That is the great quality that makes up the stature of a truly talented military man.
The general's life is a shining example for the entire Party, army and people to follow. The viewpoints and theories on building the armed forces, the revolutionary army, the people's war, the all-people's defense, the construction and development of the country; The General's experience in directing and commanding... is an invaluable asset for the cause of national construction and defense.
The results of the workshop contributed to the education of revolutionary traditions for cadres, soldiers and people, especially the young generation, to raise the spirit of patriotism, love of socialism, and national pride and self-respect; building a revolutionary, regular, elite, gradually modernized Vietnamese People's Army, worthy of being the core force for the entire Party and people to firmly defend the Socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
