Attending the signing ceremony, on the VASS side there were Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Member of Party Central Committee, President of VASS; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Thi An, Director General of Scientific Management Department; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tong Trung Tin, Director General of Institute of Archaeology; Dr. Bui Duc Hung, Director General of Institute of Social Sciences in the Central.
On the side of Khanh Hoa province, there were Dr. Nguyen Chien Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Dr. Tran Son Hai, Member of Khanh Hoa Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the province; and representatives from departments and agencies of Khanh Hoa province.
The cooperation program between VASS and the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa province in 2013-2018 focused on major issues as follows: a) Cooperation in research and technology application to improve the capacity and efficiency of research in social sciences in order to serve the socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa province; b) Provision of scientific arguments for the adjustment and perfection of the strategies and policies for socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa province, as well as building projects for the development of sectors within the field of social sciences; c) Cooperation in training experts, researchers, and administrators in the field of social sciences.

At the ceremony, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of VASS, said the research cooperation between VASS and Khanh Hoa province were long standing and initially attained good results. The signing of the cooperation agreement was an institutionalization of the cooperation to create favorable conditions for the research staff of the two parties. It was expected to promote the research results for the service of the rapid and sustainable development of Khanh Hoa province and the country in the coming period.
On behalf of Khanh Hoa’s leadership, Dr. Nguyen Chien Thang, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee expressed his confidence and expectation in the support of VASS’ leading experts in the social sciences. He hoped with this scientific assistance, the scientific tasks and projects of Khanh Hoa province in the fields of social sciences and humanities would be developed in the most effective way in order to form a theoretical and practical foundation for making guidelines and policies, building plans and the prediction of future socio-economic trends in Khanh Hoa.
Also at the signing ceremony, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang and Dr. Nguyen Chien Thang agreed on the cooperative activities in 2014 and recommended the executive committees of the two parties to soon build specific plans for the better performance of cooperative activities in the most effective way. /.
