Together with the attendance of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, there were MA. Van Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department and experts of the International Cooperation Department.
In the meeting, representing as the head of VASS, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan greeted Ms. Louise Chamberlain on final business trip to Vietnam and VASS. The President of the Academy emphasized that Ms. Louise Chamberlain had important contributions for UNDP - Vietnam cooperation in the term of working in Vietnam. Especially, the subject of effective scientific research (Human Development Report) is “trademark” prominent cooperation between VASS- UNDP.
In addition, many of the researches are useful not only for research institutions, but also for policy makers in Vietnam. Accordingly, the concept of "inclusive growth" has become widespread and largely used in Vietnam's policies towards sustainable development and social balance.
In response to the President of VASS, Ms. Louise Chamberlain thanked VASS for the warm welcome and appreciated the cooperation between UNDP and Vietnam (VASS) in the past; appreciated the efforts and role of Vietnamese research organizations Vietnam (VASS) and in providing important evidence and results of research that help the Government to propose effective strategies for National development.
Discussing on Vietnam's Challenges in the context of international integration, Ms. Louise Chamberlain and the President expects the two sides to continue research cooperation on improving productivity and competitiveness to propose appropriate growth models to ensure the benefits and development opportunities for the people at the lowest level of society.
With the strong development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution that opens up many opportunities and challenges for Vietnam, Ms. Louise Chamberlain expected that Vietnam would make solutions and plans soon to take advantage of the fourth industrial revolution which has become motivation for development; expressed the belief in VASS continue to contribute many researches for the development of Vietnam in the future.
In the meeting, Ms. Louise said she would take on a new mission in Ethiopia that country makes an effort to reach a median income. Vietnam is a role model for this country to learn and expected to receive support in improving research competence.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan presented souvenirs and special thanked Mrs. Louise Chamberlain; hoped that She would support and cooperate with VASS in the new position to contribute to develop the cooperation between UNDP - Vietnam in the next period.
