The Southwest Programme was assigned by the Government to the VASS in collaboration with the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh for bring the Southwest region into an economic motivation of the country. The programme should be implemented in five years for two phases of research on social sciences and humanities. The first phase is from 2015 to 2017 in focus on execution of research on scientific and technological tasks in order to resolve entire issues at macro-level in relation to sustainable development in the Southwest region. In which, in 2015, the Programme selected 15 scientific and technological tasks in need.
In the conference, the participants focused on discussion of main and pressing issues in terms of social sciences and humanities as well as sustainable development in Southwest region; agreed about mode of commissions, research proposals, mode of execution, collaborative mechanism between the VASS and the Steering Committee of Southwest, People’s Committee of provinces and cities in the region, universities and research institutes in the region and the country.
In the closing speech, Pro.Nguyen Xuan Thang mentioned close and synchronous collaboration for delivery of recommendations, policy solutions, models of production and business, model of highly practical collaboration, that all promote typical advantages of the region, and generate quickly positive changes, towards goals of sustainable development, to bring the Southwest into a motivating region for importantly leading economic growth and development of the country.
