Attending the meeting with Assoc. Dang Nguyen Anh also has Dr. Tran Quang Minh, Director of Northeast Asia Research Institute; MA. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Head and MA. Van Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Director, International Cooperation Department. Along with Mr. Sohn Hak Kyu, there was Mr. Rym Chung Yeap, Vice Chairman of the Korean People's Party Committee, Former Mayor of Wanjo City; Mr. Jung In Kim, representative of Korean Business Association in Vietnam (Korcham).
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Nguyen Anh, on behalf of the leaders of VASS, expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. Sohn Hak Kyu to visit and work at VASS. The Vice President presents an overview of the main organizational structure, functions and duties of the Academy; he also states clearly that VASS has no political barriers and is open to all researchers, scholars and politicians in the world to meet and exchange academic knowledge.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Nguyen Anh emphasized that after 30 years of Doi Moi (Renovation), in the context of integration, Vietnam's international cooperation in general and of VASS in particular are diversified; particularly, Korea in recent years has become an important and comprehensive partner of Vietnam. Korean culture and goods have been widely popular and favored in Vietnam. The Vice President hoped that Mr. Sohn Hak Kyu would assist the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea to introduce widely the Vietnamese human culture to the Korean people and continue to foster good cooperation between the two countries.
In respond to the Vice President, Mr. Sohn Hak Kyu thanked the warm welcome of VASS, expressed his honor to visit and work at VASS - the leading research and policy consultancy in Vietnam.
Mr. Sohn Hak Kyu affrimed to be very interested in the history, culture and people of Vietnam and is especially impressed with the thought, style, life and career of President Ho Chi Minh. He stated that with Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, and diligence, altruism, affectionate sentiment of the people, Vietnam will continue to develop further, become the dragon of Southeast Asia as well as world.
Mr. Sohn Hak Kyu emphasized that the Vietnam - South Korea relationship has had strong development, especially in economic cooperation. Korea has become Vietnam's number one economic partner. He hoped that with the close and diversified co-operation as well as cultural and social similarities, the two countries would become strong countries, contributing to the stability of the region, as well as the world in the current turbulent situation.
The meeting ended well with gift giving and taking photo activities. Both sides hoped that the relationship and cooperation develop further.
