Celebration for the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam – East Asia Center for Social Research Exchanges & Human Resource Cooperation and Office of Inamori Academy in Vietnam

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Office of Inamori Academy, Kagoshima University, with the consent of the President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (Academy), on the morning of August 23rd in 2019, at the Headquarters of the Academy, the Vietnam – East Asia Center for Social Research Exchanges & Human Resource Cooperation (East Asia Center) and Inamori Academy, Kagoshima University, Japan co-organized “Celebration for the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam – East Asia Center for Social Research Exchanges & Human Resource Cooperation and Office of Inamori Academy in Vietnam” and the scientific seminar introducing the Inamori business philosophy and lessons learned for Vietnamese Youth.

Attending the Celebration, on the Academy side, there were: Dr. Dang Xuan Thanh, Vice President of the Academy; Prof. Dr. Do Hoai Nam, former President of the Academy; Dr. Tran Quang Minh, Director of the East Asia Center; Dr. Ho Hoang Hoa, Head coordinator of Vietnam Office of Inamori Academy, Visiting Professor, Friendship Ambassador of Kagoshima University; with representatives of leaders, former leaders, staffs of institutes under the Academy; lecturers of universities as well as partner agencies and collaborators of the East Asia Center.

On the Japanese side, there were: Mr. Asazuma Shinichi, Deputy Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam, Mr. Matsunaga Takeshi, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam; Mr. Kawai Jun, Deputy Director of the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam; Prof. Koshio Shunsuke, Leadership Representative of Inamori Academy, Kagoshima University; Prof. Yamaguchi Toshinobu, Director of the Inamori Academy Vietnam, Kagoshima University; Dr. Liu Meiling, Lecturer at Kagoshima University; Mr. Taniguchi Manabu, President of Kyushu Kagoshima Japanese Language School; Mr. Asaga Hiroshi, Deputy Director of Japan - Vietnam Medical&Care Human Resources Consultants (MCHR). There were also officials from the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam; JICA Project for Capacity Development of the Office of the National Assembly of Vietnam and students from Kagoshima University, Japan.

The 10-year journey of establishment and development of the East Asia Center was shown in the summary report of the Center's activities by Dr. Tran Quang Minh, Director of East Asia Center presented. With the main function of exchanging and researching social sciences problems between Vietnam and Japan, East Asia Center has become more and more complete in term of institutions with the significant expansion of functions, tasks, scopes and areas of activity in the past 10 years. The East Asia Center has made positive contributions, achieved some outstanding achievements in the cooperation of researching, training and developing high-quality human resources for the Academy in particular and the country in general; contributing to strengthening relations between Vietnam and Japan, Korea and other countries and territories in the region. Thereby, Dr. Tran Quang Minh expressed his sincere thanks to the leaders, former leaders, functional agencies and all partners of the Academy that have facilitated cooperation with the Center for the past 10 years. At the same time, he hoped to continue to receive such valuable assistance and cooperation in the future. He also expressed his determination to continue to maintain, promote and develop the activities of the Center further to contribute to the nation-building process, boosting the cooperation of Vietnam, Japan and other countries and territories in the region.

Accompanying the development of East Asia Center is the Inamori Office at the Academy. 10 years of operation of the Office has been Dr. Ho Hoang Hoa presented in the summary report. As a member of the East Asia Center, Inamori Office at the Academy has actively promoted the following activities: (1) Supporting joint research programs, enabling Vietnamese and Japanese researchers and professors to exchange science; (2) Receive students from Kagoshima University every year to study and experience in some rural areas of Vietnam; (3) Introduce excellent students from Vietnamese universities to Kagoshima University to research and study postgraduate programs; (4) Create conditions for managers, researchers inside and outside the Academy to come to Japan to survey, learn and exchange experiences in various fields. After 10 years of operation, the Office has introduced to Kagoshima University excellent students who have graduated from universities in Vietnam to study masters and doctoral programs. Many outstanding graduates have stayed to participate in Japan's economic development, others returned home to be taught at universities or worked for non-governmental organizations such as JICA, JETRO… and some students receive international award-winning science inventions. With the achieved results, Dr. Ho Hoang Hoa emphasized that Inamori Office would continue to be a solid bridge, making practical contributions to the development of increasingly sustainable Vietnam-Japan exchange relations.

In the joyful atmosphere, the East Asia Center and Inamori Office in Vietnam received many congratulations by the Vice President of the Academy - PhD. Dang Xuan Thanh; Former President of the Academy - Prof.Dr. Do Hoai Nam, Deputy Ambassador of Japan in Vietnam - Mr. Asazuma Shinichi, Representative of Inamori Academy, Kagoshima University… The delegates warmly shared their joy with the results achieved by the Center in the past 10 years; At the same time, expressing the desire and trust in the coming time, the Center will have quicker and stronger development steps; contributing to strengthening the relationship of the Academy with international partners in particular, and Vietnam with other countries and territories in the world in general.

The second part, also the last part of the Celebration is the Scientific Seminar "Inamori Business Philosophy and Lessons Learned for Vietnamese Youth". Dr. Tran Quang Minh and Prof. Dr. Yamaguchi Toshinobu co-chaired the seminar. In this section, the delegates introduced Mr. Inamori Kazuo, Inamori Academy, Inamori business philosophy, including his business method and life perspective… Thereby, we can see that Inamori is not only a successful businessman but also the inventor of ceramics as an alternative to the iron in semiconductor components. Besides, he is an ideologist with his philosophy of educating people on how to live and work. He is an example of efforts to overcome difficulties for Japan's young generation in particular and the young generation in general. Inamori life, career and ideas have been highly appreciated by prestigious futurists around the world and considered the role model of the 21st century, a philosophy based on the thought of “doing good”, bringing happiness to humans, to society and humanity in general.
