The opening ceremony of Vietnam Week took place in the form of online combined with live, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky; Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam Le Xuan Dinh; Deputy Director General of the Federal Service for Cooperation of the Russian Federation- Rossotrudinichestvo, Pavel Shevtsov; President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) Phan Chi Hieu; Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) Tran Tuan Anh; Chargé d'affaires of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation Le Dac Quan; President of the Vietnamese Association in Russia Do Xuan Hoang, along with many experts and scholars of the two countries.
In the opening speech, on behalf of VASS leadership, Dr. Phan Chi Hieu would like to thank the Russian Academy of Sciences; Institute of Contemporary Chinese and Asian Studies (under the Russian Academy of Sciences); The Russian Science Information Center and its partners have supported and cooperated closely and effectively with VASS as well as its affiliated units and scientists in recent years. At the same time, the President of VASS highly appreciated the initiative and practical significance of the Workshop, which is a valuable opportunity for the two countries to review the achievements of scientific cooperation in the past time. Thereby proposing solutions to further improve the effectiveness of this cooperation in the future.
The comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation has gone through a 73-year history, overcame the test of time and continues to grow strongly in both breadth and depth with many important achievements in all fields of politics, diplomacy, economy, culture, society, science and technology.
During his visit to Russia in 2014 and 2018, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized: "Vietnam's consistent policy is to always attach great importance to and desire to further consolidate and promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the Russian Federation, considering Russia as one of the leading traditional partners of friendship, importance and trust in Vietnam's foreign policy", and "The good traditional friendship between Vietnam and the Union Russia has a rich history, tested over time, and cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries. This is an invaluable common property of the two peoples, which should be preserved and promoted. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also said that perhaps there are few countries in the world like Vietnam where many generations of Vietnamese people, including leaders from central to local levels, have been trained and studied in the Federation Russia. This is one of the important factors contributing to strengthening the friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
In the fields of cooperation between the two countries, science and technology cooperation is always a priority orientation and is focused and promoted. In the field of social sciences and humanities, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences is maintaining regular relations with research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Institute of Contemporary China and Asia, Institute of Science and Technology). Economics, Institute of Demographics, Institute of Philosophy); training institutions (Faculty of Asia-Africa, Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of International Relations, St. Petersburg State University); policy think tanks (such as the Strategic Research Institute under the Russian President, the Analytical Center under the Russian Prime Minister) and many others. The cooperation activities are quite suitable such as: research cooperation activities, research funding; exchange delegations; conferences, seminars and talks; activities of exchanging information, publishing books and magazines…
In the period 2017-2021, scientists from the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences collaborated with Russian scientists to implement 27 research projects in the field of social sciences and humanities within the framework of the framework of the National Academy of Sciences. Events within the framework of Vietnam Week in Moscow are divided into 3 main areas: Practical orientation, science-technology, and culture. The program includes eight roundtables on economics, science, and education. Delegates will discuss prospects for cooperation between Russia and Vietnam in the fields of banking, oil and gas exploitation, healthcare and information technology. There are also hands-on classes and lectures. Listeners have the opportunity to learn about the history and art of Vietnam, participate in classes in painting, calligraphy, Vietnamese fan making, origami as well as learn the secrets of Vietnamese culinary masters.
The organizers of Vietnam Week are the Russian House for International Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the Institute of Contemporary China and Asia under the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation, and the Union Scientific Information Center Russian State.
