On the afternoon of December 14th, 2017, at the No.1 Lieu Giai Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) organized a workshop on "Improving Productivity and Competitiveness: Lessons from East Asia and ASEAN Countries".

As part of a series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of ASEAN; Approved by the leaders of the Academy of Social Sciences of Vietnam, on December 1st,2017, at the 3D Hall, Lieu Giai Headquarters, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies at the Institute of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (Academy of Sciences) held an international scientific workshop titled "ASEAN-Taiwan Relations in the Context of Taiwan's new South- oriented policy."

On the morning of 29 November 2017, at the 3C Hall, Building B, Headquarters No. 1, Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, Institute for European Studies of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (Academy - VASS) in collaboration with partners including the University of Naples "Orient" (Italy); The Vietnam Development Research Institute (VUSTA) and the Center for Social Work Research and Development (VBARD) conducted an inaugural workshop on "Strengthening the Role of Teams social workers and workers. This is a joint project funded by the European Union (EU), from May 2017 to May 2021.

On November 28, 2017, the Institute for European Studies (IES) of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) organized international seminar with the theme "Brexit and some impact on the region and Vietnam" at the No.1 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Hanoi. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bui Nhat Quang, alternate member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice Chairman of VASS attended and delivered opening speech.

On the morning of October 13, 2017, at 1 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (Academy) cooperated with Senshu University, Japan to hold an international conference entitled "Social Welfare in the Context of Regional Integration: Research common ASEAN model ". The seminar was attended by 25 international scholars from Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan and Mongolia.
