Overview of the high level discussion between
VASS - LASS |

VASS has the participation of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang – a member of Central Committee, President of VASS, and Vice Presidents as Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan and Associate Prof. Dr. Pham Van Duc, as well as Head Department of Organization and Personnel Department. Other representatives have joined in the discussion including Associate Prof. Dr. Tran Thi An – Head of Scientific Management Department, Dr. Nguyen Bui Nam – Chief Administrator, MA. Nguyen Thanh Ha – Deputy Director (in charge) of International Cooperation Department so on. About LASS’s side, there is the participation of Associate Prof. Chaleune Yiapaoheu – a member of Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, President of LASS, and Mr. Khamphone Bounady – vice president of LASS as well as Mr. Feuangsy Laofoung – Director of Institute of Politics Studies, Mrs. Phonethip Sychaleun – Deputy Chief Administrator of Scientific Committee and Mr. Phone Viphonhiane - Deputy Chief Administrator so on.
At the conference, both sides have discussed about many issues related to the functionalities and tasks of VASS as an institution at ministry level. As being an institution who is in charge of doing researches and training for other units on Social Sciences, they also talked about the relationship of VASS and the Central Theory Committee and Hochiminh National Institute of Politics. Besides, two sides also discuss about the possibilities of working together through research topics, organizing workshops, sharing experiences in activities related to information and library, other issues about the annual meeting between VASS and LASS, as well as the ability to expand the meetings’ scope with the participation of Indochinese countries including Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, or even other countries as Korea and China in the future. Also, two side has officially discussed about the timeline and plans of technical transition for LASS’s head office which was sponsored by VASS in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Having speech at the Conference, Associate Prof. Dr. Chaleune Yiapaoheu, who is President of LASS, expressed his appreciation for the welcome and sharing of VASS’s president and all representatives joined in the conference. LASS’s president expected to receive more support of VASS in all aspects, especially training for human resources with the high quality through short, mid, and long term courses.
After this official conference, the Laos’ high level officials will have a working day with Institute of Information and Social Sciences, Social Sciences Academy. Also, they will have a visit to Vietnam Museum of Ethnology for specific chances of collaboration with this museum in next period.
