Seminar: India and Indian Ocean

In his general lecture, Prof Baladash Goshal shared information about India’s response toward China’s behavior in Indian Ocean. The professor discussed about acts of China when this country stated about its authority in Arunachal Pradesh, and parts of Jammu and Kashmir area of India which is against international law. He also talked about the India – Vietnam relations toward above issues. He wrote about the increasing expense of China on national defense and investments of this country in military in recent years. He mentioned to China’s behavior towards other neighbor countries which are proofs of desire to expand in both East Sea and Indian Ocean for resource purpose. Professor evaluated these actions as dangerous and it is the reason of why India has to improve the navy as well as prepare nuclear weapons for self - protection.

Besides, professor discussed about India’s Look East Policy and evaluated some opinions of Obama’s Administration towards the rising of China as well as the competition between these two powers in India Ocean; He also offered ideas about its impacts on both Vietnam and India. Topics attracted much attention of those joining in the conference and these information are additional reference for staff of Vietnam Institute of Indian and Indian Ocean Studies in their research works.
