On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (1917 - 2017), on the morning of October 26, 1977, the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, in collaboration with the Central Commission for Propaganda and Education, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) organized a national workshop on "The 100 Years of the Russian October Revolution (1917 - 2017) and the Socialist Realism: Historical Value and meaning of the age "at Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy. Mr. Vo Van Thuong, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Propaganda and Training attended and made the opening speech.

On 03/11/2017, at Pleiku Hotel, 03 Nguyen Tat Thanh, Pleiku city, Gia Lai province, Institute of Social Sciences of Central Highlands of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Provincial People's Committee Gia Lai co-organized a workshop on "Economic Development in the Central Highlands: Potential and Problems", discuss and make practical contributions to the cause of economic development in the Central Highlands to propose and propose solutions and issues to be addressed in the future.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Great Russian October Revolution, during two days from 26-27 September 2017, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) in collaboration with the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) and the Metropolian Autonomous University, Mexico and the The World advanced research project (WARP) organized an international scientific workshop with the title: "100 Years of Real Socialism and the Theory of post-capitalist civilization" at No.1 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Hanoi. It was also the ninth Annual Forum of the World advanced research project (WARP) by international scientists in many areas such as political economy, mathematics, Theory of Computational Complexity, information theory, network theory, environmental biology, political science, military science... and Prof. Dr. Heinz Dieterich, the German-born Mexican was the chairman.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN (1967-2017), on the 22nd September 2017, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) solemnly organized international conference entitled “ASEAN – 50 Years of Integration and Development” at No.1 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Hanoi. Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan - President of VASS attended and gave opening reamarks.

In order to contribute to research the revolutionary ideology of President Ho Chi Minh and President Cay-xỏn-phôm-vi-hản with the development of the Vietnam-Laos revolution, within the framework of the scientific cooperation program Between the four Academy: Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, Lao National Academy of Politics and Administration, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Lao National Academy of Social Sciences, on August 30th,2017, Scientific workshop "Ho Chi Minh’s ideology with revolutionary Vietnam, thoughtful workshop with Laos revolution" was held at Laos National Academy of Politics and Administration Vientiane Capital, Lao People's Democratic Republic.
