Beside Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Vice President of VASS at the meeting, there was also MA. Luu Anh Tuyet, Deputy Head of International Cooperation Department, VASS.
At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan warmly welcomed Mr. Ambassador and other members of the delegation, introduced briefly to Mr. Ambassador about function, tasks and organization of VASS under Decree No. 109/2012/NĐ-CP by the Prime Minister, emphasized position and role of the Academy in research, training and policy consultancy, and stated some major orientations of VASS in the present and in the next time, contributing to development of line, developmental strategy of the country in the context of international integration. Vice President Nguyen Quang Thuan emphasized that VASS developed many closely cooperative relationship with many scientific institutions in European countries and EU’s members, affirmed that long time traditional relationship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan, especially developed scientific relationship. After Soviet Union collapsed, Vietnam developed direct relationship with the republics of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Vietnam demands to recover and develop strongly inherent traditional relationships with members of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics in general and Kazakhstan in particular.

In response to the speech of Vice President of VASS, Mr. Ambassador Kazakhstan thanked for warm reception and information in relevance to activities of VASS shared by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan. He also expressed to want development of scientific cooperative relationship with VASS in 2015, in order to enlarge cooperative relations in economy, commerce, diplomacy, ect. between the two nations. Mr. Ambassador desired to have next meetings with leaders of VASS and scientists of specific research institutions directly under VASS, as well as introduction of suitable research institutions and scientists of Kazakhstan for meetings, exchange, discussion, sharing experience, strengthening understanding and generating cooperative opportunity and development in scientific research and training between the two sides.
Mr. Ambassador believed that Vietnam and Kazakhstan share many common points in views and strategies toward development of peaceful and friendly world including ASEAN region, and European and Asian countries. He wanted research institutions of Vietnam and Kazakhstan to entirely cooperate in the future.
Vice President Nguyen Quang Thuan affirmed that in the new context Vietnam and Kazakhstan have many opportunities to cooperate, develop, not only in scientific area but also in all areas. Vietnam Academy of social sciences is willing to welcome scholars, policy makers of Kazakhstan who want to examine, study Vietnam via VASS, and believes that, Mr. Ambassador and Kazakhstan’s Embassy to Vietnam will promote positively relations between the two nations in general and scientific cooperation between Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences, research institutions, universities of Kazakhstan and VASS.
