Participants of the meeting beside the President of VASS were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, Director of Vietnam Institute of Economics; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Dung, Director of Institute for Southeast Asian Studies; Dr. Tran Quang Minh, Director of Institute for Northeast Asian Studies; MSc. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Head of the International Cooperation Department.
At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang introduced to Mr. Kim Young Sun about the functions, duties, organizational structure as well as principal research fields, orientation, and research interests of VASS.
In response to the President of VASS, Mr. Kim Young Sun expressed delight to visit and work at the Academy. Mr. Kim Young Sun introduced briefly the ASEAN-Korea Centre – an organization with the aim to promote investment, trade, people exchange, and implement cooperative projects between South Korea and the ASEAN member states. Currently the Centre is conducting projects to support the ASEAN member states to integrate the ASEAN economic community. In particular, those are to build electronic library and ASEAN connectivity Forum, focus on topic of connection of energy, transportation and ICT. Mr. Kim Young Sun expressed a desire to have cooperation of VASS in implementation of projects of the Centre.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed to exchange documents and information in the next time, contributing to enhancement of understanding and development of friendly relations, comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea./.
