In the afternoon of 2nd July 2014, Institute for Southeast Asian Studies, a unit member of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, held a general lecture on “ASEAN Community 2015: What does it mean for Indonesia? And Current situation in the East Sea (South China Sea)” at 3D Hall in the headquarter of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences at No.1 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Hanoi with the participation of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Mr. Mayerfas, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Vietnam; Dr. Ketut Putra Erawan, the Executive Director of Institute for Peace and Democracy, Udayana University, Bali, Indonesia; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Dung, the director of Institute for Southeast Asian Studies and representatives from other member units of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.

In 26th and 27th June 2014, Institute for Northeast Asian Studies held an international conference on “South Korean Studies in Vietnam: Achievement and Orientation” with the participation of many scholars and lecturers from different research agencies and universities of Vietnam and South Korea. This conference is sponsored by Korean Studies Promotion Service (KSPS) and Academy of Korean Studies (South Korea).

In the morning of 10th June 2014, Institute of Human Studies held a scientific conference on “Human development: Achievements, matters, and trends” with the participation of many scientists from different units in and out of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences in Venue 606, No. 1B Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.

As following Training course on scientific research methods in Hanoi on 26th May 2014, the group including 30 young members of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) continued the countryside program as scheduled in Ban Nua (Yen Khe, Con Cuong, Nghe An).

On 23rd May 2014, Institute of State and Law, a unit member of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), held a scientific forum on “The legal issues related to Chinese action of putting oil rig Haiyang Shiyou – 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone”. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the Party Central and President of VASS; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Nhu Phat, Director of Institute of State and Law; and Dr. Le Mai Thanh, Chief Editor of State and Law Reviews are the co-chairs of Forum.
